My name is Lesley Ito and I’m the teaching director at BIG BOW English Lab. I was born in England, but grew up in Lakeland, Florida, not too far from Disney World. Even thought I’ve been teaching in Japan a long time, I just received my Masters of Science in Teaching English to Young Learners from Aston University in the U.K. In addition to teaching, I’ve given teaching presentations all over Japan and have written many English teaching materials.

One of my favorite things to do is travel. It was the experience of a lifetime to dance with flamenco dancers in Spain, see Stonehenge in the U.K., and go to the top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest building in the world. It’s so much fun to visit a new country and find out something new.

I often visit Kiyosato in Yamanashi prefecture with my family. The most famous American who ever lived in Kiyosato was Paul Rusch, who helped the community by teaching them new ways to farm. He also brought American football to Japan. He often said, “Do your best and it must be first class.” The story of his life touched me and now this is my motto, too.

    Hey there!
My name is Austin Smith and I’m the new Associate Teacher at Big Bow English Lab. I am from San Diego, California but I spent the last year teaching English at a school in Manresa, Spain. (Manresa is a couple hours north of Barcelona). I am confident that my year in Spain has prepared me to teach students in Japan. Before teaching English in Spain, I was a student at San Diego State University studying Economics.
I have a big interest in cultural exchange, which was a big motivation for me to become an English teacher. I think you can learn a lot by experiencing life in a completely different culture other than your native one.
I have a lot of hobbies which include watching movies, travelling, playing games with friends, trying new foods, hiking, and playing sports. My favorite sport is American football; if you have any questions about it feel free to ask! Finally, perhaps the most important thing about me is my favorite food. Its very common for people from San Diego to love Mexican food like I do, especially burritos! If you ever get the chance, I recommend you try one!

Hello, my name is Hiroyuki Ito, but everyone at BIG BOW calls me Mr.Ito.
I work in the office most of time, but if students or teachers need me, I am always here and happy to help. So, when you have any problems, please feel free to ask me for help. I especially love to work with students when they have grammar questions. Lesley-sensei calls me, “The Grammar King.”

My hobby is travelling, driving, and listening to American music, especially rock and jazz.
I also love to eat and cook. I went to America after high school because I loved rock music and American cars. My first car was a Ford Mustang Cobra!

Since I like to travel, I’d like to share a favorite phrase I recently heard, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
